What are some of my thoughts on the paranormal and spiritual communities?
1. Looking at the vast majority of human civilization, a soul and an afterlife are widely believed in. Then the actual debate should not be whether or not ghosts and spirits exist, but what happens to them upon the host body's physical death. 2. A paranormal investigator cannot spend their time researching and investigation only looking for answers that fit into what they believe. To be a professional investigator, you have to be able to accept data that goes against your desire. If you wish to prove that ghosts exist, you can't throw out data that shows contrary. The same is true to the skeptic. If the data cannot be explained by current scientific standards, it doesn't mean that it's invalid. Too many "solid" conclusions are drawn by only utilizing data that fits. That's good for statistical work, not scientific credibility. 3. Don't be dismayed by others stating that your equipment is too rudimentary and/or inappropriate. No one knows what equipment is appropriate; this isn't a controlled laboratory setting. Trial and error, with intensive analysis of all data, is the only way that the science of paranormal investigation is going to advance. 4. Too many investigators use equipment they don't truly know how to operate. If you don't know the equipment in and out, don't use it. It will only be used to invalidate your findings based on incompetence. 5. The one thing that the analytical investigator must remember and practice is to trust your feelings. It could be that you are picking up on a natural phenomenon, have an overactive imagination, or that you are actually detecting something subconsciously. The only way to know is to incorporate that method of data collection into your investigation. It's something you either need to disprove or quantify. 6. Similar is true for the psychic investigator. Remember, psychic ability is not a scientifically accepted practice. It is still viewed as quack science and trickery by a vast majority of the professional community. It's one thing to prove things to those that already believe, but the goal of a dedicated investigator is to be able to present your findings to any scientific body and for it to withstand professional analysis and criticism. 7. Do not get dismayed by what you perceive as a lack of findings and critics of your work. Keep in mind that great discoveries do not happen overnight and even some of the most off the wall scientific theories have been proven many years after their inception. Now, what are some of my ideas about the science behind ghosts? 1. The theory that ghosts are made of energy, coupled with the thought that cold spots are basically ghosts drawing heat energy for a physical interaction on any level, leads me to theorize that the spirit itself is actually comprised of a very minuscule level of energy. This would also be coupled with a very wide spread of electrical particles. This could account for the motion of the spirit through matter, and it's ability to appear/dissipate. 2. With that in mind, the next question arises: What keeps the electrical particles of a spirit in suspension? What I mean by that is what keeps the spirit from dissipating immediately, since electricity travels at 186,000 meters per second squared, or roughly circling the Earth every 1/7th of a second. It doesn't just float there. It can, however, be stored, as in a battery. Is there a force that has yet to be discovered by modern science? Does it go into that controversial area of crossing dimensions? Are we not looking in the right areas? Is it something so obvious that it smacks us in the face every time we look? 3. The envelope really needs to be pushed as far as the finding, development, and implementation of data gathering equipment. The field has really stagnated as far as innovation. I know that expense is a major contributing factor in acquiring equipment. There needs to be a consortium between members all across the paranormal community to standardize procedures and equipment. Well, that's my mind purge for now. Keep posted for more and feel free to email me your own views or thoughts on the paranormal from the scientific end of the spectrum. |
